Self on The Shelf

I just want to express the appreciation for the all the volunteers that have served together at the Civic Center while “Standing with Crockett”. It has been something that I have not experience in a long time. It reminds me of my child hood when I would see my parents, family, and friends go out to our community sharing with one another for a given cause to help others as a family. Not expecting anything in return. Just happy to give of their Time so someone else could be blessed. They were not being filled with excitement of only what they were giving away but the Act of giving. Many of us have lost that feeling.

Our community and country WILL BE CHANGED once we put self on the shelf and place others on the table. I am the worst at saying “I have been too busy”. As someone replied to me at one of our Men’s Breakfast, B.U.S.Y. (Being. Under. Satan’s. Yoke.) Wow that hit me where it hurt. I knew then that I had been missing out on something. That something was Giving of my Time. God not only wants to see us give of our money but so much of the time we are not willing to give the most precious of these things to others like Our Time. We look at it as ours, and it is but God wants us to experience giving it to others and seeing what it does for his people when we put Self on The Shelf.

Our Pastor at Good Shepard Fellowship has shown all of us the last 94 days what that looks like. I am not saying we have to do what Leon has done but I am saying that with his leadership people in this community have seen what Jesus can do through one man’s Selflessness how it can change the attitudes of many. I invite you to come join us as we try to bless others by giving of our time and talents to serving others in Houston County and the sounding area by passing out milk, chicken, and produce. God only knows what is next for Standing with Crockett.

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others."

Philippians 2: 3-4 NIV
